winter cottage
bridgetown, western australia
The idea of this three-bedroom, one bathroom cottage was a timber and glass box suspended on the side of a hill overlooking a dam and winter creek.
Repetitions of original Jarrah windows and doorframes from the Architect’s Grandparent’s Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House-inspired demolished home were salvaged, restored and designed into the new configuration, bolted together within a hot-dip galvanized structural steel frame inspired by the architect Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House.
The house is an embodiment of the Owners’ commitment to a sustainable future, and has been designed around ESD and passive solar design principles.
