tan residence
meadow springs, western australia
A tilted pre-cast concrete house, this ‘bunker’ house stands bravely within the barren waste-land that is the expanse of suburbia between Perth and Mandurah.
Without any architectural reference point to draw from, this dwelling folds back in on itself. The whole front wall of the house leans back at seven degrees, with the side wall and roof following suit, as if buckling under the pressure/vacuum that surrounds it. Away from the street frontage, the solidity dissolves into glass on the back face of the bunker, with the dwelling opening up again to take in the Northern light, air, garden, and views to the golf green opposite.
